Mr. Trudeau and Mr. Champagne,

I read this morning that you have announced your intention to allow Umicore, a Belgian company, to build a factory in Ontario to transform nickel, cobalt and lithium (mostly mined in third world countries) into electric vehicle batteries. As usual, your rejection of sustainable, ethical Canadian energy in favour of unethical and vastly polluting practices in order to favour the east at the expense of your red-headed stepchildren (every province west of Ontario) is duly noted.

Just a reminder of the following inconvenient truths:

  • Manufacturing an electric vehicle creates 68% higher CO2 emissions than a comparable gasoline vehicle.

  • As you are aware, lithium is found in Mexico, South America and East Asia; all known, of course, for their ethical treatment of workers and their zealous protection of the environment. I jest! Lithium mining results in a lovely “soup” of lithium-containing salts after a water-intensive process using up to 500,000 gallons of water per ton of lithium carbonate. And, of course, in the process of said refinement, toxic chemicals like hydrochloric acid are produced, which kill local flora and fauna. And let’s ignore the problems of foreign governments and militaries occupying these countries in order to protect “their” resources.

  • Cobalt and nickel, of course, are mined underground instead of being water-processed. Depending on the mining method used, these mines can physically disturb or destroy local habitats, and the chemical by-products of mining often pollute soil, rivers and drinking water. As you know, 60% of the world’s cobalt is found in the Congo region; a desperately poor country where there are limited worker protections. Tunnel collapses are common, and if the tunnel doesn’t kill you as a worker, you likely will have the pleasure of watching your progeny be born with birth defects due to the toxicity of your environment.

  • In order to run an electric vehicle, one needs a source of energy …and a battery that isn’t frozen. Remind me again from whence Canadian electricity is generated? (Hint: in landlocked provinces, it isn’t from any water source.) And remind me again how electric vehicle batteries perform in -40 temperatures?

  • And, of course, there is the problem that only 5% of electric vehicle batteries are currently recycled, which means that every 5-8 years, each electric vehicle in Canada will create yet more leaking of toxic chemicals into our landfills.

At the same time that you are devoting $1.5B taxpayer dollars to funding the destruction of local and global environments (and, of course, funding potential enemies of Canada), you have shut down the construction of safe, energy-efficient Canadian pipelines while purchasing approximately $12B of foreign oil annually from the US, Russia (Mr. Trudeau recently banned crude oil – but not derivatives – the Canadian public has come to expect nothing less from our virtual-signaling, 8% popularity WEF dictator), Venezuela (Mr. Trudeau’s favourite country, based on his dogged attempts to emulate Venezuela’s destruction of its economy, inability to rely nationally on its energy-rich environment and, of course, massive inflation that has resulted in the locals eating Fido – coming to a Canadian town near you very soon!), Iraq, Saudi Arabia, and other bastions of ethical behaviour.

I’m wondering, at what point, does your Government’s support of foreign economies at the expense of Canada’s constitute treason? As you are aware, s46 of the Canadian Criminal Code states that “a person commits ‘high treason’ who: a) kills, attempts to kill, wounds, imprisons, or restrains the sovereign, b) wages war against Canada or does any act preparatory thereto, or c) assists an enemy at war with Canada or any armed force against whom Canadian forces are engaged in hostilities, even if no state of war exists. The punishment for high treason is life imprisonment, without parole eligibility for 25 years.” I’d argue that this Government’s blatant attempts to cripple the Canadian economy already constitute treason, of course. I’ve cc’d the Ethics Commissioner, in case someone wants to assess you with a $500 penalty for yet another violation of your duties! And let’s not forget that Mr. Trudeau owns shares in many foreign oil companies – if only someone in this Government, or the RCMP, actually felt loyalty to Canada over loyalty to their golden goose.

As one of the many tax-paying Canadians who is counting down the days until I flee Canada for a more democratic nation (in this case, any banana republic that has renounced the WEF), it pains me to see the Liberal Government methodically and deliberately crippling Canada in order to benefit foreign interests (and Mr. “Let Them Eat Bugs” Schwab), and it infuriates me that my family will be forced to find a new home in order for our child to experience a decent quality of life.

Your slavish devotion to global interests, destruction of the economy, division of the Canadian public and blatant pandering to the east (who, by the way, seem to have finally realized you hate them, too) have escaped no one.

I’m sorry I missed you at the Calgary Stampede!! I would have loved to add my voice to those expressing their strong feelings about your socialist diktats.
