Omicron: a worst case

Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing to remind you of Castanet’s duty to objectively report the news, as well as to report facts instead of conjecture. In the above-referenced article, Ms. Harnett cites Dr. Henry’s doomsday modeling prediction that BC may see more than 2,000 COVID-19 cases per day by late December, with a commensurate escalation in hospital admissions two weeks later, without any attempt to verify these statements by comparing them to the data of which we are currently aware.
As Ms. Harnett should know, South Africa, where Omicron allegedly originated, has not experienced the spike in hospitalizations that was expected to accompany the number of “cases”, and, in actuality, many renowned epidemiologists believe that this variant may lead the world out of the pandemic due to its mild symptoms coupled with its high rate of infectiousness. (Yes, herd immunity due to disease exposure is really a thing, according to every scientist who has not been bought and paid for over the past 20 months, as well as the numerous scientific studies coming out of Israel and other countries.) As Ms. Harnett should also be aware, only 6% of Africa is vaccinated against COVID-19, and yet COVID-19 is almost non-existent within that continent. Even the WHO has been forced to admit that, while African makes up 16 % of the global population, it comprises only 2.9% of COVID-19 deaths. It’s almost like Dr. Henry’s COVID-19 restrictions have exacerbated the problem in BC.
The doomsday predictions need to end. Your readers understand exactly what is going on: Either Castanet is acting as Dr. Bonnie’s mouthpiece to instill fear in the population with the sole purpose of justifying the BC Government’s tyrannical and completely irrational COVID-19 restrictions (as well as deliberately suppressing opposing views), or every person in your organization lacks basic critical thinking skills.
Looking forward to the Nuremberg trials, when we find out what a soul is worth on the open market nowadays.
