On March 18, 2022 CBC “News” reported that “all federal vaccine mandates are under review because the science tells us the primary series of the COVID-19 vaccine – the first two doses – offers very little protection against the Omicron variant”, and cited you as stating that “[t]he game changer has been an Omicron variant, which is a vaccine-escape variant” for which two doses of the COVID-19 vaccine offer “really low” protection. Notwithstanding your statement, I note that the Government of Canada is still using taxpayer funding to promote vaccines as “safe and effective” for children with a link to this website available on www.yahoo.ca, etc.: https://www.canada.ca/en/public-health/services/vaccination-children/covid-19.html?utm_campaign=hc-sc-covidvaccine-21-22&utm_medium=dis&utm_source=verizon&utm_content=static-kidsvaxx2_static_helmet_1080x1920-en&adv=2122-218750&id_campaign=27411785&id_source=5568773-331145189&id_content=523150748-168029333. This site, via the National Advisory Committee, recommends that healthy children and youth 5 to 17 years of age receive two doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, with immunocompromised children and youth receiving three doses.
I’m confused. Can you please explain to me why the Government of Canada is still actively recommending a course of vaccines that it has acknowledged is ineffective against the latest variant of COVID-19, for a demographic that is at negligible risk of serious effects from this disease? After a little hunting on the internet, I found that according to the Government of Canada’s data, 34 children 19 years of age and younger have died “from” COVID-19 in Canada since the start of the pandemic: as you know, no information regarding co-morbidities or prior health issues is provided for these cases and it is very likely that most, if not all, of these children were very sick prior to their COVID-19 infection. The Government of Canada’s data also indicate that 0.011% of all doses administered cause serious side effects (https://health-infobase.canada.ca/covid-19/vaccine-safety/). Doubling that number (because one has to take two jabs in order to be considered “fully vaccinated”), it would appear that the rate for a serious side effect in Canada is 0.022% for a fully vaccinated individual. It is extremely difficult to find accurate, current census data for children, as well as vaccination data, but from official sites I have taken some educated guesses at numbers:
There are at least 2,500,000 children between 5-11 years of age in Canada, and at least 2,500,000 youth between 12-17 years of age in Canada. Taking the Government’s official COVID-19 vaccination numbers, this means the following:
A child under 20 years of age has an approximate chance of 0.000425% of dying “from” COVID-19 (with a healthy child having an almost 0% chance of such a death);
16.1% of children 5-11 years of age have been fully vaccinated (402,500) = at least 89 serious side effects;
38.52% of children 5-11 years of age have had one dose (963,000) = at least 106 serious side effects;
83.19% of youth 12-17 years of age have been fully vaccinated (2,079,750) = at least 458 serious side effects; and
4.54% of youth 12-17 years of age have had one dose (113,500) = at least 12 serious side effects.
Can you please advise if my numbers are correct? If they are even close, can you please explain why the Government thinks that causing at least 665 serious COVID-19 vaccine adverse events is appropriate to reduce the possibility of death for a few immuno-compromised children, especially given the fact that you have admitted that these vaccines offer no protection against the current variant, so the healthy lives saved at present by definition equals zero? And, how many deaths do these 665 serious vaccine events include? (I can count three off the top of my head, but of course we both know this is a drop in the bucket.)
I look forward to your response, and hope that you can explain to me why all of the above is incorrect such that this Government is not playing fast and loose with the safety of healthy children in this country. Oh – and p.s. Thank you also for admitting vaccine mandates are about “force”, and not about health. I’m assuming your statement will be a key piece of evidence in many upcoming lawsuits against this Government for its coercive, cruel, unlawful and unscientific restrictions.
