Mr. Trudeau,
I see you took the opportunity to declare at last week’s Liberal Christmas (sorry, that isn’t politically correct – Holiday? Kwanzaa? Non-Denominational? Right-wing-extremist-fascist-Christian?) party that, contrary to Mr. Poilievre’s assertions, Canada is not broken. You’ll forgive me for not listening to your speech but relying on news reports instead; every time I watch you giving a speech you label me as a racist, misogynistic science-hater so I’m practising some “self-care” and avoiding your vitriolic hate speech.
The National Post tells me that you cited 2 examples of how Canada isn’t broken: (a) hurricane recovery relief provided by your Government to Eastern Canada, and (b) more women returning to the workforce, due to your Government’s national childcare plan. Not to point out the obvious, but the fact that your Government’s only solution to any crisis is to throw money at it isn’t really proof that this country is functioning effectively. And the fact that more women are returning to the workforce is just as likely to have been caused by your Government’s irresponsible fiscal spending, which has thrown this country into recession, and caused everyone’s purchasing dollars to be less valuable due to inflation rates that could only be topped by your dad. Small wonder that women are returning to the workforce – it’s to ensure their children don’t starve to death.
Here’s my (partial) list of how you are breaking Canada, in case you were wondering:
You have continued to divide this country, east against west, by favouring Quebec and Ontario, whilst gunning for the west with your energy and taxation policies.
Speaking of guns, you are acting as a “basic dictator” and modeling such democratic bastions as China, Venezuela, Cambodia, Nazi Germany and Eritrea in trying to deprive Canadians of all arms, ostensibly to stop gang violence in Toronto. (Nope, you still aren’t fooling anyone with that argument, we all fully understand your agenda in trying to slowly march us into communism.)
You have ripped off the blinders of all Canadians to the fact that this Government has no compunction to act ethically or in the best interests of the taxpayer (a brief recap, in no particular order: WE Charity, SNC-Lavalin, Aga Khan, WEF, CCP, lockdowns, Emergencies Act, Governor General, Point Grey, Justice Rouleau, Acuitas and of course, the grifting of members of your wedding party, which have all made Canada’s international ranking for corruption only slightly better than Chile and the United States – and given Canada the dubious distinction of being the country that has dropped the most in ratings since 2017).
Your Government continues to chip away at Canadians’ Charter rights and freedoms, both by funding mainstream media, a la Russia and China, and by introducing ever more restrictive legislation aimed at silencing anyone who (rightfully) calls you a dictator.
You managed to take Canada’s ever-dysfunctional healthcare system and make it even worse; an impressive feat, even for you.
You have wasted billions of dollars of taxpayer funds on expired vaccines, the useless ArriveCan app, Covid relief for the ineligible, etc. and have actively obstructed audits into said misappropriations of funds.
You have attempted to paint anyone in this country who thinks you are doing a lousy job (at the time of the last election, 80% of us who either voted against you or were so apathetic we didn’t hit the booth) as a conspiracy theorist and extremist. (What’s the difference between a conspiracy and a fact? About 6 months.)
I could go on, but I have to get back to work in order to pay for your ever-expanding budget, and fleet of public servants. I met a man at a party last night who worked for the CRA for ten years; he explained to me that the running joke at that time was that government workers left the office every day at 4:30 pm and were home for 3:00 pm. Not such a funny joke for us taxpayers, I’m sure you can appreciate.
I’d like to leave you with a quote, which for some reason seems fitting for this email: “Our great democracies still tend to think that a stupid man is more likely to be honest than a clever man, and our politicians take advantage of this prejudice by pretending to be even more stupid than nature made them.” – Bertrand Russell.
