I am writing to you regarding your comments about peaceful protestors last week, as reported by the Canadian Press. Once again, I note your complete and utter disdain for the people who pay your salary. Just to recap your statements:
Peaceful protestors should “get a hobby”. Thank you for making me laugh out loud – you do realize the irony of telling people who you have banned from bowling alleys, gyms, movie theaters, restaurants, etc. for the past 6 months to “get a hobby”, correct? Or is self-awareness not a trait that is encouraged in government? Regardless, I have been attending Saturday rallies for the better part of two years; I assure you that I have plenty of better things to do with my Saturdays, and I also assure you that I am looking forward to the day that I no longer have to attend weekly rallies to remind the government to respect my rights, freedoms, bodily autonomy and, of course, medical privacy, which both the provincial and federal governments feel compelled to violate on a daily basis.
You also note that the Victoria police have learned that “asking nicely” does not work. I’m a bit concerned you haven’t read the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms; as you should be aware, Section 2 gives each Canadian the full right and freedom to protest any issue – law enforcement has no right to “ask nicely” that they stop. Or, are you suggesting that the Victoria police disregard the Charter of Rights and Freedoms, and violently attack peaceful protestors?
I also note that you stated that the protesters’ freedom “is not greater than anyone else’s”. This is great! Have you suddenly decided that, notwithstanding your promotion of discrimination for the past year, all citizens of BC are actually equal in the eyes of the law? If that is the case, can you please explain to me why I am still banished from restaurants, gyms, sporting events, etc. even though this province’s data clearly show that the COVID-19 vaccine does not work?
I’d ask you to do better, but judging from your actions over the past few years, you are not capable of doing so. As usual, I am nauseated that my tax dollars are being used to promote my discrimination by society.
I’ve cc’d the BC RCMP and Victoria City Council with the request that they confirm they will not take any illegal actions against the peaceful protestors in Victoria. The world watched in horror at the blatant RCMP (UN?) abuses in Ottawa last month, and one would hope you don’t want a similar mark against your name.
