Now that the veggie garden is (thankfully) frozen, it is time to turn our attention to preparing food for the freezer. We have talked about buying a pierogi maker for a few years, and finally picked up this item from our local kitchen store this year:  https://hunkybills.com/product/big-perogie-maker/.  I was a little skeptical as to whether this product would work as advertised, but we were pleasantly surprised by how easy it is to make a large volume of pierogi in a short period of time!  The pierogi maker comes with a recipe on the back, which we mostly used.  By multiplying the recipe by 5, we ended up with about 170 pierogi which will go in the freezer for easy winter meals.  (We made a few of the batches with sauerkraut and sour cream, for variety.)

We boiled, then fried, some pierogi for dinner last night – unfortunately, as is the sign of a successful meal, no one thought of taking a photo before devouring so you’ll have to take my word on the final product!  We will likely make these again in the next few weeks to preserve some of our potatoes and make life easier for the cold months that lie ahead.
